The journey to the passion of the girl 9X
To make special cookies like this, did Ly take any professional baking training classes?
I didn’t learn professional baking anywhere. All the products that people are seeing right now are all my research on the internet. I also consulted with friends and then went home to tinker with it myself, so I learned a lot from that.
So where do you get the ideas to make these picturesque cookies?
I really like drawing. With every material and style of cake, I want to be painted, and cookies are no exception. But usually, people think that, if you want to draw a cookie, you will draw with icing sugar. Vibrant, vibrant colors. We can easily find it anywhere.
But I want to find a new style of drawing, bearing my personal imprint. Through it to best express the gout and the mind of the baker. So the layers of paint painted with brushes on the background of rustic cookies were born. Although it is still full of color, it is not too prominent. Very simple, close and has a vintage-style nostalgia.
How long do you have to practice and screw up many times before launching cookies like the one they are today?
Actually, I’m pretty lucky. Since I’ve loved drawing since I was a child, I didn’t have much trouble drawing on cookies. Right from the first painted cakes, after their debut, everyone was very supportive and well-received. So far, making cookies has only been 1 month. but the collection of painted biscuits has grown to a decent size.
Have you ever given a cake that the recipient said he couldn’t eat it because it was so beautiful?
In fact, every time the recipient said he didn’t want to eat it. There are many meanings from the giver through the cake to the recipient, so the cake has great spiritual value! In fact, no one wants to eat. People just look at it and then wrap it up and keep it as a souvenir.
Without hesitation in sharing the secret as well as how to make cookies that are both sweet and lovely like this, Huong Ly shared the steps to make cookies as follows:
Materials to prepare:
Unsalted Butter: 125 grams (room temperature)
– Powdered sugar: 120 grams 120
-1/2 tbsp salt salt
-1 tablespoon vanilla extract
-310 grams of flour
– Food watercolor
– Food pencils
Put butter and powdered sugar in a bowl. Then, using a mixer, turn on the lowest setting and beat until butter and sugar are combined. At this time, add the eggs and beat together (still keep at the smallest step) and beat until combined. Add vanilla extract and continue whisking. Add the flour and mix well with a flat spatula (you can use a whisk to mix) Use your hands to knead the dough into a ball to have a smooth dough mixture. Place the dough on a baking sheet of silicone, above the dough lay a piece of parchment paper. Press the dough to flatten and then roll the dough about 4-5 mm. If the dough is a bit mushy and wet (usually due to hot, humid room temperatures), you can put it in the fridge for about 15 minutes, to make it firmer and easier to roll. When the dough is as thin as you want, simply peel off the parchment paper. After rolling out the dough, put the dough in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to harden, it will be easier to cut. Using a cookie cutter, cut the dough into the desired shape. After cutting, remove the excess dough and then gently transfer the cake to a baking tray lined with parchment paper or a special baking mat. Preheat the oven for 15 minutes, 200 degrees Celsius, two heat. When the oven is hot enough, put the cake into the oven. Lower the temperature to 170 degrees Celsius, bake the cake for about 10-15 minutes (this depends on the oven) I bake until the surface is slightly golden. After taking out the cake from the oven, leave the cake on the tray for about 5-10 minutes for the cake to harden, then transfer the cake to a rack to cool completely.
Use a small brush (type 0.00,000). Templates for drawing on cookies people can refer to on pinterest or google, the pictures are super simple, look at them and use a pencil to draw basic strokes on the cake (who doesn’t have flowers, you can print the template on A4 paper already. Use rice paper or stencils on top, paint the basic strokes and then turn them upside down on the cake, continue to take a pencil to paint again, the pencil lines are lightly printed). Mix the food coloring to the closest to the sample color you need. Use brush number 0 to color according to the pattern and use brush number 000 (smallest) to draw black or brown outlines to make the drawing look sharper. Let it dry on a rack for about 1 hour. If you find that the painting is difficult to dry, you can put it back in the oven, let it heat at 100 degrees Celsius and let it dry. The time depends on the wetness and color removal. Finally, wait for the cake to cool and dry, wrap it in a plastic bag (small type used to store cookies) then put it in a box and it’s ready to give away.
Huong Ly shared, how to make cookies like this is not too difficult. As long as you have the heart and breathe life into each brush stroke, you can make such beautiful cakes yourself to give as gifts.
